DELHY TEJERO     (Toro 1904 - Madrid 1968)

After leaving his hometown, Tejero Delhy arrives in Madrid in January 1925, the city where he lived until his death. Between 1925 and 1927 he completed his training at the School of Arts and Crafts and the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando, where he had teachers such as Julio Romero de Torres, Cecilio Pla and Manuel Benedito.

His professional life began at the end of his studies at San Fernando, when they began publishing his drawings in the most important magazines of the time charts, as Chronicle, The Sphere, White and Black New World, among others.

After a period dedicated to teaching at the University of Salamanca and the Instituto de Toro as a teacher of drawing, between the last quarter of 1936 and September 1937, Spain abandoned the way of Italy, via Paris, where he visited Florence, Rome , Naples and Capri. In May 1938 back to Paris and came into contact, made by Remedios Varo, the surrealist painter, learning, among others, Óscar Domínguez, who learns the art of the decal to be applied to some of his drawings. With the Surrealists in 1939 presented in the exhibition Le Rêve dans l'art et la littérature. De l'Antiquité au Surréalisme. Unfortunately this part of his work destroyed herself on grounds of conscience.

In the fifties, increasingly immersed in the world of abstraction, which began to emerge in our country, but without abandoning the surreal and figurative content of his previous work, participated in several major exhibitions.
